The following pictures were taken after my youngest son was bitten by a Golden Retriever that wandered into our yard one fall day in November when he was 4 years old. Taylor was playing with the "friendly" dog and out of nowhere the dog snapped. You can read more HERE ...Please Please Please watch your child CLOSELY AND AT ALL TIMES when they are interacting with a dog! Do not allow your children to run up to strange or familiar dogs. You NEVER KNOW what a dog might be thinking or how they are feeling at any given time.
I am posting these to raise awareness!
Educate your child about the dangers of unfamiliar dogs!
This is after Taylor received over 150 stitches.
This is Taylor after surgery and in recovery. He was in the hospital for 7 days.
Taylor is a happy eight year old now and LOVES Dogs! In fact, sometimes I think he is part dog!! His love for dogs is just amazing after this traumatizing event!

Oh my god, I'm so sorry this happened. People that know me tease me about being a dog-hater. I try to explain that I don't hate, I just NEVER trust them around my kids. Even "familiar" dogs make me nervous.
You've confirmed one of my biggest fears, but thanks for reassuring me that I'm NOT just a paranoid over-protective mom!
Hope he recovered smoothly and whatever became of the dog?
OMG! I will remember this when we have dogs roaming.......
oh my goodness..like Rachel said I am not a big dog person and this is another reason. why..
How is your son now?
Oh man, that's horrible. I love my sweet doggie and though I always say I don't THINK he'd ever bite anyone, I also say he's a dog and there's no way I can know for sure. So I watch him.
Glad Taylor was OK (eventually). Is he afraid of dogs now?
Oh my god, that poor baby. I always have to watch mine with unfamiliar dogs because they think all dogs are nice like ours.
That poor little thing! I hope he recovered well...
Oh Geez, the poor little guy. Is he terrified of dogs now?
oh my god
oh my god
oh my god
You can't trust any dog will always be safe. They're dogs. Drives me crazy when neighbors let their dogs roam off leash. They can tell me their dog won't bite all day long and I still won't hesitate to kick it if it comes too close to my kids. And believe me, I'm a dog lover. I have a dog. But still.
I can't believe those pictures. That must have been a scary time. I am very wary of dogs anyway. I have never owned one and am always cautious. Thanks for posting this to raise awareness though.
Glad all is ok now.
thanks for sharing.
wow... thanks for the reminder and so glad he is a happy dog loving boy now...
That is tragic. I hope he and his family have all the peace they want after this experience. Tragic.
OH MY GOD! Ohhh, that poor boy! I'm amazed he still loves dogs after that, but I suppose little kids don't really hold grudges, do they? I'm glad to hear Taylor is doing well!!
And thank you for stopping by my blog, you awesome 100th follower, you!!!! That made my day when I saw that this morning! :-)
I have goosebumps! I can't imagine what that was like to go through with your baby. It looks like a horribly vicious attack...whatever happened to that dog and what did the owners have to say about it and how did you get it away from your son??? So awful!
I am speechless.
Seriously had my stomach drop to my knees.
I debated about showing my kids, but I did.......so important for them to see that not all dogs are friendly and that they always need to ask before approaching a strange one.
A good friend in HS was attacked while jogging and she spent over a year recovering. He destroyed her leg.
Oh that poor sweet baby! I'm beside myself, just looking at that. But it helps to know that it was years ago and that he's okay now.
This is such good advice. Dog owners should monitor their pets when children are around. Even the nicest of dogs may snap now and again. And you've given pretty graphic evidence of how bad this could be.
Yeah, this is also why I never let my dog play with kids. He's my best friend, but I never ever forget that he is an ANIMAL. They can be unpredictable, read human behaviour the wrong way and react badly. Kids unsupervised + dogs = horrible, horrible mistake.
Dog bite should not be taken careless. It is a very serious matter and proper remedies should be given. Thanks for the information.
